Mindset.

"Whether you think you can, or you think you can't – you're right." – Henry Ford

Objective: In two minutes or less, you'll gain a new insight or perspective to improve your mindset.

My perspective: Our mindsets are shaped by our world view.

As individuals, we have a unique mindset due to our genes and more importantly our experiences.

And that’s a strength.

Your uniqueness is to be cherished. Use it to your advantage.

The problem I often see, is that people have a fixed mindset.

A fixed mindset is exactly what it says on the tin.

It leaves no room for growth or change.

The truth is fixed mindsets are only a thing if you let them be a thing.

So that means they're not a thing.

Because you have the power to not make them a thing.

The definition of Mindset is "the established set of attitudes held by someone."

To establish our attitudes towards something is completely in our control.

But that doesn't mean it’s easy...

The biggest challenge when adopting a new mindset isn't the desire or defining your target mindset.

It’s keeping consistent.

Being disciplined in the hard moments where you will be challenged.

This world is full of temptations to make life easy and challenge our mindset.

For example...

I've just completed Dry January.

Last year, I attempted to complete it, but failed.

Because I decided to have a beer at a work event on Jan 31st (stupid I know).

I broke the promise I made to myself and others.

And weakened my mindset.

But this year I was different.

Multiple times during January, I had the opportunity to drink.

Social events, work events, meals out with family and random evenings at home.

But my mindset was fixed on keeping the promise I made to myself.

So, I removed myself from the situations that would tempt me to be inconsistent.

This made the difference in keeping the promise to myself.

And even though it was only a day difference. I kept the promise to myself. Which means a whole lot more.

The most successful people in this world have a tough mindset.

As Henry Ford says, they believe they can, and they're not willing to let anything stop them.

If you think you can’t, you've already lost.

Can you see now that you're in control.

When people with a tough mindset come up against an obstacle. They use it as an opportunity to strengthen their mindset.

Summary: If you find yourself making excuses or having a lack of willpower. You have a fixed mindset.

The great thing is you have the power to change this.

Start small, remove obstacles and make it easy for yourself to begin with.

Build up the experience in keeping promises to yourself that align with the growth mindset you want to demonstrate.

And see obstacles as an opportunity to strengthen your mindset.

As promised. A news perspective on mindset in less than 2 minutes.

Keep spreading the good word ✌️

James

Word of Mouth #004 Goal Setting "Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible." – Tony Robbins Objective - Within the next 2 minutes I want to share a new framework which helps you hit short and long term goals. My Perspective - We're now in February. Which means 99% of people have given up on their new year's resolutions. Unfortunately, this doesn't just happen once a year. We tend to consistently set goals and not achieve them. Until we get to a point where we...

Word of Mouth. #002 Market Trends. "Don’t skate to where the puck is, skate to where it’s going to be." – Wayne Gretzky Objective: In two minutes or less, you'll gain a new insight or perspective to apply in your life. My perspective: In the few months, I've had a major realisation. You can build the best product in the world. But if the market isn't ready or have a desire for your product. It's pointless. The market is the sole dictator of whether your product will be a success. Is there a...

Word of Mouth #001 - Reputation

Word of Mouth. #001 Reputation. "It takes many good deeds to build a good reputation, and only one bad one to lose it." – Benjamin Franklin Objective: In two minutes or less, you'll gain a new insight or perspective to apply in your life. My perspective: I've been thinking about reputation a lot recently. The fear of losing the reputation you worked so hard to build often stifles your growth. In what has become a cancel culture, we fear : Offending people Saying the wrong thing Judgement by...
